One typically needs a high school diploma or equivalent to become a First-Line Supervisor of Non-Retail Sales Workers, although some employers may require an Associate Degree or bachelor’s degree. In such cases where higher education is required, employers may look for a degree in a related field. Examples of related education include advertising, public relations, sales operations, and specialized merchandising and marketing. Whatever the specialized background may be, such workers will need excellent oral and written communication skills. Time management, critical thinking, monitoring, problem solving, and coordination are other important skills to have.
