CareerForce is a collaborative partnership between the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), the Minnesota Association of Workforce Boards (MAWB) and the Governor’s Workforce Development Board (GWDB).
The MAWB represents Minnesota's Local Workforce Development Boards. Minnesota is organized into 16 Workforce Development Areas, each represented by a Local Workforce Development Board. These boards provide local input and direction for meeting workforce development goals as outlined in state and federal statute. Local board members act as leaders in their communities to both make connections among multiple stakeholders and leverage resources to bolster the overall effectiveness of the workforce development system.
The GWDB advises the Governor on Minnesota’s workforce system and has representation from business, education, labor, community-based organizations and government. The GWDB has statutory responsibility under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The GWDB provides a venue for workforce stakeholders building on a shared vision and mission.
