The unemployment rate for teens (ages 16-19) remains low but it has edged up a bit since last year, and labor force participation among teens has declined, but it is still higher than it has been since the mid-2000s. The teen unemployment rate was 7.1% in February, up 1.6 points over the year, which, despite the increase, puts the teen unemployment rate close to a record low for February going back to 2002, when this information first started being tracked. The teen labor force participation rate was 58%, which is down 6.7 points from a year ago but still at a near-record high since 2002.
