- Women who are current or former military members can get information about available education and career benefits from female-veteran-focused staff at the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. The staff’s goal is to ensure that female veterans have equitable access to federal and state benefits and services and are treated with respect and dignity.
- Immediate family of current or former military members are eligible for benefits and protections, which can include hiring preferences, rights to time off for military activities, and career planning and training resources. - Native American veterans can find out more about employment services, education assistance and other available benefits through the Tribal Veterans Service Officer initiative, which is a partnership with state and federal government agencies and the Minnesota Native American Nations.
- Veterans who have been involved with the criminal justice system may be eligible for special assistance, including help with career planning, information about rights for those with criminal records when seeking employment, potential options for clearing your record (criminal expungement) and more.
- Current or former members of the military who need to talk about severe personal struggles, including career-related problems, can reach the Veterans Crisis Line online, at 1-800-273-8255 (press 1) or by texting 83825.
