-This 8-week course trains students in knowledge and skills required for medical office support positions (patient scheduling/receptionist, front office/desk). The training covers medical terminology, human anatomy and a healthcare practice management program called Medisoft. We will have visits to the class from local organizations and businesses who will inform on the different types of positions participants can apply for with the certificate, ways to contact their organization, and how to prepare for interviews for these positions.
We can provide support services to participants like bus/gas cards and help with internet.
Interested participants should make an appointment to register for the training at Neighborhood House's Wellstone Center location, 179 Robie St. E, St. Paul, MN 55107. Participants should plan to bring a valid photo ID and social security card OR valid passport to their appointment.
After participants successfully complete the program, they will receive an industry-recognized certificate of achievement in Healthcare Technician Training. They will receive a framed hard copy of the certificate, along with several hard copies and a digital copy that they can upload to online applications. Neighborhood House career navigators will then help participants develop resumes and cover letters, search for jobs and prepare for interviews. We will also help with networking, employer contacts, and supply letters of recommendation/references on applications.
The training, materials, and career navigation services are free to participants.
