That’s what Jenny Oakes, Program Director for Supportive Lifestyles, Inc. shared with CareerForce about the success of the Follow Your Heart to a Caring Career campaign in connecting job seekers with employment that makes a real difference in the lives of others.
Supportive Lifestyles provides residential services and community supports to individuals with disabilities living in Willmar and the surrounding area. Jenny has great success finding employees through CareerForce.
"At Supportive Lifestyles, Inc. we are very grateful for the opportunities we've had to partner with CareerForce and the Follow Your Heart to a Caring Career campaign!” said Jenny. “As a result, we have been able to recruit and retain five Direct Support Professionals and one Site Coordinator who are providing exemplary supports to adults with disabilities in their homes.
Jenny hired two staff from a Follow Your Heart to a Caring Career job fair this summer sponsored by CareerForce and held at the Willmar Public Library. Other staff were hired as a result of referrals from staff at the CareerForce in Willmar who connected job seekers with her.
“Each of these new hires are making a difference in the lives of the individuals we support on a daily basis as companions, advocates, role models and teachers,” said Jenny. “Our mission to provide healthy environments designed to match the needs and interests of our customers is actualized through these compassionate direct care staff as they help to build skills and make memories that will last a lifetime."
