CareerForce hosts, promotes or otherwise has a hand in hundreds of job fairs and other hiring events every year. This week, two big hiring events drew crowds of job seekers in St. Cloud and Minneapolis.
On Wednesday, Leading CareerForce Partners DEED and City of Minneapolis Employment and Training hosted the third annual Veterans & Community Job Fair at the CareerForce location at 800 West Broadway in north Minneapolis. Hundreds of job seekers and community residents turned out to meet face to face with nearly 40 employers hiring now, like Wells Fargo, BNSF Railroad, General Mills, TSBL Distributing and many others.
One of the employers at the Veterans & Community Job Fair was Patrick Chavie, field service manager at TSBL Distributing in Anoka and a U.S. Military Veteran. TSBL sells and services soft serve ice cream machines and other equipment for restaurants like DQ and McDonalds throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Chavie set up a soft serve ice cream machine in his booth to help draw in potential job applicants. It seemed to work really well – here's what he said, “It was awesome! We got a lot of leads in a short amount of time. There were a lot of people walking through there looking for employment – lots of traffic. I have a good feeling about it!” TSBL positions start at $25.00 an hour, and training is provided. Employees receive a company vehicle for work, and they are dispatched to service appointments from their homes, providing flexibility and eliminating “commutes” to a central office. Interested people can find out more on the TSBL website.
Wells Fargo also had several representatives at the job fair in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Here’s what one of them, Adam Farhat, had to say, “The event was great! We were able to talk with many people within the community and the veteran community on a plethora of different topics and jobs. Though, we did not fill any roles yet per se, we did market some local branch positions and connect with potential candidates as we guided them to the application processes.” Find out more about Wells Fargo employment.
One person looking for work at the job fair yesterday was Andrea Lazarich, who met with eight employer recruiters – including Wells Fargo – and is looking for a position in accounting or supply chain management. She remarked, “It’s been great. There are so many employers here!”
On Tuesday, more than 200 job seekers turned out to talk with 92 employers at the St. Cloud Area Career Fair at the River's Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud. Job seekers were happy with the variety of jobs and were able to explore employment opportunities they hadn’t previously considered. You can view contact information for all the employers at the St. Cloud Area Career Fair in this handy directory.
