Mike, an attorney and a disabled veteran from the metro area was struggling with his job search. He decided to try something new and seek assistance from the Minnesota Veteran’s Employment Program. He was assigned to work with Jane Kerntz from the Hibbing CareerForce.
Shortly after he was enrolled into the program, Jane sent him a job lead for a position as Assistant Veterans Preference Officer with the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA). His reply to the email was, “I’ll give it a shot.” A few weeks later he was offered the position.
Mike is excited to join MDVA and truly believes in the mission and cannot wait to contribute to the success of fellow veterans. He was advised that a critical role for him will be improving and streamlining the Veteran Owned Business Benefit process, ensuring that more businesses are successful.
Mike’s new position will be a win-win as he will also be a great future contact and resource for the Veterans Employment Program.
