How We Use Your Personal Information
The Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) collects some personal information from CareerForceMN.com users because we are required to do so for federal reporting purposes. CareerForceMN.com was developed with funding from a Workforce Innovation Fund (WIF) grant through the U.S. Department of Labor.
You do not need to give us this information by law, but it helps us serve you better.
Why do you need information about me?
The information we collect is for our purposes only. We are required to collect this information and report it to the federal government. Some of the services you may receive are paid for by federal money. We are required to collect information about people using those services so we can report on our program outcomes.
We also use information you provide to determine if you are eligible for additional services. We may contact you directly to let you know about these additional services.
We use Google Analytics to analyze traffic to our site. Google Analytics can be blocked or disabled by any visitor and that visitor will still have access to all information on our site.
What information are you asking for?
We ask for demographics about you such as age, gender, ethnicity, race, veterans and disability status. This information may be used to determine if you're eligible for special assistance, to provide personalized resources, and to evaluate our performance. Again, you do not need to give us this information by law, but it helps us serve you better.
To create an employer or partner account, we’ll need your organizations name, a mailing address, and a Federal Employment Identification Number (FEIN) and/or State Unemployment Tax Number (SEIN) to identify you as an employer participating in Minnesota’s Unemployment Insurance Program, administered by the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). We also ask for the number of employees and your industry so that we can report summary statistics on the types of employers who use CareerForceMN.com.
Who has access to my information?
The information we are asking you to provide about yourself – or your organization – is considered private data under Minnesota law. We will only share your data with staff who need it to do their work, the federal agency that oversees these services, and other entities as required by law.

What if I don’t want to provide you with information about myself or my organization?
If you don't supply enough information to create a username and password for yourself – or your organization – your ability to use CareerForceMN.com will be limited.
