St. Cloud Housing and Redevelopment Authority

The St. Cloud Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) was established in 1966 by the St. Cloud City Council.  It was determined at that time a need for substandard or blighted areas to be redeveloped, a need to establish adequate housing accommodations for veterans and servicemen and their families, and a need to establish decent, safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations for low income persons and their families at rentals they can afford.

The HRA administers federal, state and local funds for its housing programs.  It is under the direction of an Executive Director and the Board of Commissioners who are appointed by the Mayor, consisting of seven members, of which three are also City Council members.

The major revenue sources for the HRA are a combination of annual grants and housing assistance payments from the Federal government, a local property tax levy and rental income.
