Life-Work Planning Center is a workforce development program serving individuals in Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Le Sueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca, and Watonwan counties. Life-Work Planning Center is a MN Family Resiliency Partnership Program, a Pre-Employment Program for Women, and a SNAP Employment and Training Program.
Our mission is to increase the economic self-sufficiency of women and their families.
Our organization provides a supportive environment where you can gain pre-employment skills and define your goals. Our services include Personal Growth and Career Development Workshops, One-to-One Self-Sufficiency Counseling, Individualized Action Planning, Career Testing and Assessments, Budgeting, Computer Tutoring, Job Search, Interview Skill Building, Resumé Writing, Resources, Advocacy, and Referrals.
Life-Work Planning Center offers Personal Growth and Career Development Workshops quarterly throughout the year. Workshops are offered both in-person and virtually via Zoom. All workshops are offered at no cost and are open to anyone eligible who wants to enroll.
Strength • Balance • Self-Respect (6 weeks)
- Confidence: Build and maintain confidence.
- Stress Management: A look at positive ways to cope with stress.
- Assertive Communication: Say what you mean while respecting yourself and others.
- Boundaries: Form healthy relationships.
- Decision-Making: How to decide what you really want.
- Goal Setting: Learn how to set and achieve your goals.
Job Search (3 weeks)
- Assessments: Complete the Myers Briggs and the STRONG Skills assessments to identify strengths and weaknesses and how to adapt to the workplace.
- Work History: Create a resumé and address employment gaps.
- Interview Skills and Job Search: Learn how to answer tough interview questions, impressive questions to ask at an interview, and where to look for employment based on your assessment results.
