March just started, but many teens and employers are already looking ahead to June and the start of summer employment, career learning opportunities and internships.
Leading CareerForce Partner Washington County is hosting a teen job fair on March 25 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the R.H. Stafford Library in Woodbury. Teens can meet with local employers and find out what different jobs are like and what is required for various positions. A similar event last year attracted 202 teens and their parents/guardians and generated a lot of interest in summer employment opportunities and potential future career options. In Minneapolis, more than 3,000 Minneapolis young people submitted applications for the city’s Step Up summer internship program. Now, Leading CareerForce Partner City of Minneapolis is looking for businesses to host interns this summer. Interested business representatives are invited to find out more and submit an interest form by March 31.
Leading CareerForce Partner Career Solutions offers a free summer employability and skills training program for eligible St. Cloud area residents ages 14-17 called CareerONE. Teens can explore the fields of health care, construction, manufacturing, early childhood education, public safety with hands-on experience and college credits. CareerONE teens earn a stipend, plus are provided transportation and meals. Camp locations include St. Cloud, Paynesville, Melrose and Sauk Centre. Find out more.
