Work at Hennepin Energy Recovery Center, as an Operator Apprentice, while taking classes with PPL and Minneapolis College. During the program you will be prepared to drive heavy machinery, receive 3+ certifications and gain on the job experience. The hours would be part time but you would be paid for full time hours. The type of work done at the HERC site is physical labor, loud and stinky as you are working with the recycling and waste of the county and you will get to see what this environment is like with on site tours and shadowing before graduation. You will also be PAID 40 hours a week at a rate of around $27 per hour.
The first step for all PPL training programs is to attend a virtual information session which we hold every Monday at 10am on Zoom. If you cannot make this day or time we can also send you a recording. Request an invite by visiting our website: https://www.ppl-inc.org/career-training-info-session-signup
You can also email us at ccintake@ppl-inc.org to directly ask questions or request to get started on the process.
You will be directly connected to Hennepin County and Great River Energy (GRE) for direct hiring opportunities after graduation. You will also earn customer service and sales, Mental Health and First Aid, and OSHA 30 certifications as well benefit from two paid attempts at your boilers license exam. You will practice operating large machinery at extreme sandbox.
