SCC Connects - Manufacturing Careers

SCC CONNECTS is a FREE program that connects future SCC students to:

  • A course to get you ready for college (computer use, reading and career exploration)
  • College application and registration assistance
  • Guidance navigating the college computer system
  • Financial Aid & FAFSA 
  • Grants and scholarships
  • College classroom support (tutoring)
  • Financial help with books, tuition, supplies, and equipment

How to Participate

Take the first step in your manufacturing career by joining our SCC Connects Manufacturing Careers class! You can start your journey by learning more about what types of manufacturing opportunities are available to advance your career! Get ready to start a South Central College manufacturing program in:

  • Machine Tool Technology (MTT)
  • Mechatronics
  • HVAC/R
  • Auto Body & Collision
  • Welding

SCC Connects will offer classes in person on Monday mornings of July 22, July 29, and August 5 from 7am-1pm, as well as additional Fridays afternoons of August 9, August 16, and August 23 from 12pm-6pm at South Central College in North Mankato.  This will be offered directly before the fall semester at SCC starting near the end of August 2024.  

Prior enrollment is required before classes start, and you will need to attend all SCC Connects classes and complete all assignments to be eligible to receive financial support for the fall semester in the manufacturing program of your choosing.  This is available to individuals living in the counties of Sibley, Brown, Le Sueur, Blue Earth, Watonwan, Waseca, Faribault and Martin counties.

Outcomes

As part of the SCC Connects class, you will receive your Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 hour training certificate in the class, then you will advance your training to South Central College in the fall semester of 2024 and obtain your certificate or diploma in your manufacturing sector of your choosing. The Adult Career Pathways Navigator will then continue to work with you after obtaining your certification or degree to help you find the best options for starting your career and help you obtain employment in the that specific field you gained your training in! 

Program Costs

FREE for individuals that qualify!

Qualifications include, but are not limited to: low income, person of color, individual with a disability, justice impacted, long term unemployed, lack of high school diploma.  

SCC Connects can offer career exploration, classroom support and financial help with books, tuition, supplies, transportation support, tools, and personal protective equipment for those that qualify!
