Minnesota Training Partnership's FREE Culinary Arts Training Program will prepare you for a union culinary arts job, offering exceptional work environments, generous pay and benefits, and opportunities for education, training, and advancement! UNITE HERE Local 17, Minnesota’s hospitality union, helped us design this training, and our employer partner is ready to hire! Our program leverages strong, well-established partnerships with Saint Paul College, our union partner UNITE HERE Local 17, and a reputable employer partner to help under-served groups enter and sustain employment in nontraditional occupations. In addition, our program provides many specialized services that meet the needs of busy people.
Skill Training: Safety & Sanitation ServSafe® Certification (32 hours online), plus hands on foundational cooking lab covering essential culinary skills, knife techniques, meat and vegetable preparation, and other cooking methods (16 hours onsite at Saint Paul College).
Work Readiness: employer expectations, resume enhancement, networking, job search, interviewing
Key components of our short-term program include online training modules, lab training at Saint Paul College, work experience with our employer partner, culturally responsive services, and strong connections to placement opportunities after the training.

Key outcome is a full-time job with good pay and benefits working with our employer partner, a major player in the hospitality industry locally. Participants will develop a network of other like-minded individuals who can encourage and troubleshoot working in the field together.
Industry recognized training includes: Safety & Sanitation ServSafe® Certification, hands-on experience in Saint Paul College state-of-the-art facilities, work experience, and development of real-world skills to succeed in the food industry. Employability skills include: Worker Rights, Leadership Workshops, Job Connections, Support Services.
Other program highlights: In addition to training onsite at Saint Paul College’s culinary training facilities, you’ll receive a full range of other assistance: personalized one-to-one help from a Program Navigator throughout your program participation, support services to help ensure you graduate, work readiness and other training to help you get a good job in the hospitality field and meet your long-term goals, hands-on training with a skilled chef at Saint Paul College’s culinary training center, opportunities to network with our employer partner and experienced union leaders.
