Self-paced program information
Manufacturing & Construction Essentials is designed to be flexible and accommodate the needs of busy adults. Most of the training can be completed from home via Zoom, with a few onsite training opportunities and company tours. Some components of the training are also self-paced and can be accessed online using a laptop or smartphone. The program offers both one-on-one assistance and group sessions. Our goal is to provide you with the training you need to succeed and help you secure a job in manufacturing or construction.

MTP’s Manufacturing & Construction Essentials program will prepare you for jobs in manufacturing and construction trades. The program utilizes strong, well-established partnerships with unions, workplaces with union workers, and registered apprenticeship programs to help underserved groups enter and sustain employment in nontraditional occupations.

Program includes: OSHA-10, CPR/AED, Shop Math/Measurement, Mental Health, Job Stressors, Worker Rights, Unions and Apprenticeship overviews, Employability Skills, Leadership Workshops, Tours/Guest Speakers, Job Connections, Support Services.

Minnesota Training Partnership is preparing underserved groups for high-wage, high-demand union jobs in construction and manufacturing. Key components of the short-term, flexible program include online training modules, culturally responsive services, and strong connections to our unions and apprenticeship programs.

Eligibility: BIPOC individuals or low-income.

Outcomes

Key outcome is a full-time job with good pay and benefits working in manufacturing or construction.

Industry recognized certificates and skills training: OSHA-10 (virtual), Forklift (in-person), CPR/AED (in-person or virtual), blueprint reading

Skill Training: Shop Math/Measurement, Mental Health, Job Stressors, Worker Rights, Unions and Apprenticeship overviews

Work Readiness: employer expectations, resume enhancement, networking, job search, interviewing

Program Costs

Free for eligible Minnesotans who are BIPOC or low-income.
