MTP’s services in the Union Jobs for Women program will prepare participants for jobs in manufacturing and construction trades. The program utilizes strong, well-established partnerships with unions, workplaces with union workers, and registered apprenticeship programs to help underserved groups of women enter and sustain employment in nontraditional occupations.

Minnesota Training Partnership is preparing underserved groups of women for high-wage, high-demand union jobs in construction and manufacturing. Key components of the short-term, flexible program include online training modules, culturally responsive services, and strong connections to our unions and apprenticeship programs.

Eligibility: women who are BIPOC, low-income, or over 50 years

Program includes: OSHA-10, CPR/AED, Shop Math/Measurement, Mental Health, Job Stressors, Worker Rights, Unions and Apprenticeship overviews, Employability Skills, Leadership Workshops, Tours/Guest Speakers, Job Connections, Support Services.

Online or Virtual Information
Union Jobs for Women is flexible and designed to meet the needs of busy women. You can participate from home via Zoom for most of this training, with a few onsite training opportunities and company tours. Some of the training is also online self-paced, using a laptop or your smartphone. The program includes one-to-one assistance and group opportunities, with a rolling start. We are prepared for you to enter when you are ready, get the training you need to be successful, and leave when you have a job offer to start or advance your career in manufacturing or construction.

Outcomes

Key outcome is a full-time job with good pay and benefits working in manufacturing or construction. Industry recognized certificates and training include Forklift, Blueprint Reading, OSHA-10, CPR/AED, Mental Health, Shop Math and Measurement, Union Environments. Women will develop a professional network of other women in the trades who can encourage and troubleshoot working in the field together.
